one more post about the piercing

So.. this is a totally random, unnecessary post that you don't really need to read. It's about my piercing on my right ear. It has been almost 10 years (wait, it sounds so long ago!) since I had my ears pierced, though my right ear isn't doing well today. It kind of hurts if i pinch... I know why though it's just the earrings were too heavy but only the right hole does this. I have 3 other on my body and they are all fine, in fact I forget that I have them.

this week is going to be a bit crazy

My mom is coming this week! But I've got a load of stuff to finish up before she comes (while she's here).

There was a new Italian cinema film screening up in the city today. I saw La casa sulle nuvole, (The House in the Clouds) it's about two Italian brothers go to Marrakesh to find their father who they thought he was dead a long time ago... The father is an artist, a dreamer, a club owner, et cetera...
Luckily, I was able to listen to the director talk about the making/editing process and how he wrote all the music for the film. I wish if I could stay for other films but didn't have time.
I have this thing for "desert shots", which somehow always excites me. shot of sand waves, desert and the sky, desert and nomads' tent (Berber tent), desert and animal(In Sahara, mostly goats, camels and sheeps). I think it's beautiful. Though if I'm in the Sahara or Kalahari all alone in the middle of nowhere, I'm not sure how I'd feel. I'd enjoy staying there for a while then probably will realize that it's beautiful but start to see the difficult side of it, like when the wind blows the sand constantly get in my eyes, mouth and ears and nose or when I find out that there are a tons of scorpions hiding under the sand... It's simply because I'm not used to it though. No scorpion bites, please.
Watching movies makes me think, especially the good ones (in my own opinion) bring the great feeling afterwards. Foreign films (I feel a bit strange to call this way) makes me want to see things that I'm not used to, something alien to me, from bugs and plants to people, language, architecture, and lives. The short clip for La casa sulle nuvole http://www.sffs.org/content.aspx?pageid=1367
In the comment after the movie Claudio Giovannesi mentioned that he likes Jim Jarmusch, Gas Van Sant films and I knew why I enjoyed his film as well. There is also a short documentary he did on Italian people living in Morocco, I don't remember the title but that's sound interesting as well. I want to check out this book called The Brotherhood of the Grapeby John Fante. When it comes to the book hunting, I miss the used bookstores back home. They usually have books from nickel and dime, and what I like about going there is that we can actually read them before you get them. I change my mind when I dig something more interesting while at the store, which it happens to me often. Yes, Amazon books are amazing but It's one of my favorite thing to spend time that way. I guess I'm old fashioned.

No more vintage shopping for a while

Hello hello.

So, I should be in bed by now or keep writing my research paper (Titled, Jehovah's Witnesses: Bible reading session), but I'm posing this. Oh well. It's fine. I'm not religious person and I'm not going to the discussion on this here, we can talk about it on skype. jk
Recently I purchased pretty costly things. Not just one but a number of things...
I got an intern position at a museum, yay but so and so it's non-paid job. I got teaching position at school that would pay a bit. Got to make up the $¥$¥$¥ now.

Urban vs Pastoral

I looked everywhere for a short clip of this film but I couldn't find it. It's made by Merian Cooper, same director as world-famous King Kong. Grass definitely isn't a mainstream but it's great to watch if you are interested in films from 1920s-1930s, or Persia (Now: Iran) and pastoral life, you need to find a copy. Life isn't easy anywhere. I can't complain about mine, because ours are supposedly great, right? But then again, nobody can experience what exactly like to be the other person, so... it goes around and around. I was born in the 1980's and these people in the film were probably born around 100 years ago and have no idea that we can still see the part of their lives from back then. By watching this film it made me want to blow up goat skin and float across the big river. The End.

The picture of Manhattan will continue to the next post...

Cuba Cuba Cuba...

Visual images are powerful.
Without knowing the language, images tell you something. These double, tripled images speak to you. I need a projector for next project. Any suggestion?

Moondog

NYC street life in 1950s

urban streets is a great place to observe people, right? But what if you are blind? What do you see? Feeling the city sound could be inspiring but poisoning at the same time.

It's Friday November 6th, 2009

This is going to be my first blog post I've ever made. It's a memorable moment in a sense, someday our offspring would dig what we post on the web and make hypotheses about what the life was like in the end of 2009. Welcome to my blog.
